Rereading the assignment they were given, Arashi scowled. He and his squad had to escort an old man and his bamboo and a "few other things" to the annual Panda Festival somewhere in the Country of Fire. Before they left, they were supposed to wait for a guide from Konoha that would double as both protection and a dog pointing which way to go. Arashi didn't like it one bit.
He was a jounin, this was his squad and his mission. He could easily navigate the Fire Country without help from some native ninja. He could easily protect the rest of his squad if, say, a pack of ninja wolves that ran away from their master attacked. Also, she was late. He hated to waste time waiting for something or someone to come around.
After a couple more minutes, he spat on the ground and started walking forward. "Alright, guys. Time to go." Ayame frowned. "But sensei, we're supposed to wait for-" Before she could finish, Akio cut her off. "CLEARLY, we're not waiting for the ninja any longer. It's his fault for being late anyway." Kou, the last genin of the squad, was being quiet... which was a shocker. He usually piped up when Akio and Ayame started something, and Arashi noticed this. He glanced back at his third brat, but Kou was just staring into space. That was normal, so the leader let it go.
Ayame glared at her partner but started following her sensei anyway. "The Mizukage directly told us to wait for them. Maybe they got ambushed or something."
"And if they got ambushed, we shouldn't wait here, we should go. If they didn't stray from the path, we might be able to find and help them."
"Both of you shut up and guide the horse," Arashi commanded, gesturing back to the horse that was pulling a cart filled with stuff. The old man was sitting atop the horse, which happened to be a Clydesdale. Wasn't fast, but was meant for work. The two bickering kids frowned but did as they were told, one monitoring the stuff in the cart so that it didn't fall out if they hit a bump or something while the other took the reigns and led.
"And by the way, we're not waiting because I didn't feel like it. If we find a dead or in-need-of-assistance Konoha ninja, we're leaving them because they made me wait. Deal with it." At this, Kou looked back and sneered at his teammates. Ayame had a look of disbelief on her face, but Akio clearly wasn't surprised.
Arashi turned and looked at his genin squad. They looked like a regular bunch of rugrats... except for Kou. That little homo was just weird. He had bleached hair with multicolored streaks springing up in all directions, so his hair looked like a fluffy rainbow fireworks show. He wasn't wearing regular ninja attire, but rather, a black t-shirt with Hello Kitty on the center. He was wearing black jeans that were only slightly baggy, but had a couple belts and chains slumping around his hips to hold them up. The belts were neon, one being green and the other pink. Kou also wore a pocket chain, and his shoes were a vibrant purple. He was wearing fingerless gloves to show off his painted nails, which were also in a rainbow assortment. Up on his face were subtle traces of makeup. The kid also had piercings running up his right ear, and a tongue piercing to boot.
You'd think a flaming gay like him, who refused to wear drab clothing, wouldn't be a very good ninja. Though what surprised Arashi was that the kid was very good at hiding in plain sight. You wouldn't think it'd be possible, like a vegetarian who doesn't constantly talk about their diet, but apparently it is.
Akio on the other hand, was a completely normal kid. He liked messing with girls occasionally, and loved to goof around with his 'bros'. He had straight, slightly ruffled blond hair and hazel eyes. A band-aid covered the bridge of his nose and freckles splattered his cheeks. He was wearing a white hooded t-shirt with three gray stripes going down the back. Underneath that was a plain black shirt with sleeves that reached down to his palms. He was carrying a backpack with him, as well as pouches attached to his cargo pants to hold his ninja gear.
Ayame was a cute girl. She really was, though she was a little too obedient and rule-abiding. She wore her headband on her forehead.(Her hair's like hinata's, with the two things hanging down in the front.) Though her hair was long and she preferred to keep it up in a very messy, even spiky, ponytail that was high on her head. She had regular jet black hair and brown eyes, and she only wore a dab of mascara. She had an earring for each ear, but they were only studs so as not to get pulled. Ayame wore a black tank top and dark blue skinny jeans that flared slightly at the foot. Tennis shoes protected her feet.
All of them looked too skinny to do any damage, though as their sensei, Arashi had taught them at least a few things. They were a little too young to have visible muscle that was worth anything.
"You're sexy, sensei."
"I'll put you behind the horse, Kou."
Akio snickered while Kou looked utterly horrified. Arashi was just glad the old man was hearing impaired. He didn't know how a geezer would take to a little gay boy.
And so they walked in utter silence, sensei's seriousness making them afraid they'll be put behind the horse or made to pull the cart. Once he warned one of them, it counted as a warning for all of them. They knew that from experience.
