[Haha. Vell is funny. :3 Yuki and Kiba have been together since they met. Hmm, shall we say, love at first sight. >3]
"I don't like tht he's blind," Amaya muttered softly, knowing that being blind could get him killed. "He could get hurt."
She let go of Rage's sleeve and moved up in the short line, black basket in tow. She really didn't like blindness. Being unable to see was like being defenseless. You wouldn't be able to know what was around you or what was happening around you. For all you know, you could be walking right off a cliff or worse. Someone could kill you.
She frowned.
Yuki hissed quietly and grabbed the front of Kiba's jacket, careful not to hurt him, and dragged him up close. "Are you stupid?!" she snapped, obviously still crying. Her eyes were wet and she smelled like salt. "I was fucking worried sick about you and all you have to say is 'Are ya okay?' Like MY health matters! It's YOU that I care more about!"
Kiba flinched, baring his teeth as she grabbed him and yelled in his face. "Calm down, dammit! 'Cos I care about YOU! Goddamn." He eyed the bandages on her hand and gently grabbed her wrist, pulling it off of him. He couldn't stand to see her in such a frustrated frenzy. She really DID worry about him.
"You don't get it, do you, Kiba? I thought it was MY fault! And when you didn't move, I felt so fucking empty--"
He held up a clawed hand to her mouth. "Shut up. I'm fine. Now, are YOU okay?" He lightly pushed the hair out of her eyes and took in a sharp breath. Black...black marks? What the fuck happened when he was out?

Bewildered, Rage looked back at the teen around his age. He didn't look blind - his visible eye was a warm dark honey color, bright with enthusiasm. However, as he looked closer, he noticed that compromising scar hooked around that eye. And the teen, while lively, never entirely focused on what was in front of him - his eye was honed in on something a few inches left of the customer's ear.
So he WAS blind. Well, if he was, he was doing pretty well for himself.
Rage moved up with Amaya, her armed with a basket and him just cradling his cargo in his arms. He didn't have as much items as the tiny purple haired girl.
And as the last customer before them left with their goods and change, the brown haired teen turned his pleasant eye on them.
Vell ripped open the package of red bean rice dumplings with his teeth. "Fuck my life..." he growled with exasperation.
As he ambled from the open-air stand selling sweets a block from the hospital (Vell had smelled it just by standing outside the hospital and craved that taste instantaneously) the silver haired teen chewed on his stress, along with the sweet dumplings.
We met up a few months ago. After a whole decade and I'm still scared of Onii-san... He chomped on another sweet, sticky dumpling out of defiance. But now he's got this kid. She's got all these problems going on with her... What, are you a masochist now, Onii-san?
Halfway to the hospital, Vell stopped. What was he doing? He wanted to leave, didn't he? Now was his chance! He could get out of here, disappear from the Leaf's radar, from Kakashi's, from everyone's. He wouldn't have to deal with all this anymore if he could just turn his back now and have the ability to drop his only blood relative and never...see him again....
Vell rubbed his face as he stood in the middle of the street. "Like I could do that...."
"ORAHH!!"
Someone kicked Vell from behind. Right in the liver. There was no shout but his body folded instinctively from the agony and he hit the dirt road without resistance.
"'Atashi anata o kirai, shonen no neko!" (I hate you, Neko Boy!)
Vell's eyes widened as he stared at the ground. That voice. He whipped his head up and looked at the teary-eyed girl glowering over him, fists shaking at her sides. Her wild blond hair was silhouetted by the sun.
"K...Ku...Kugomi?"
[It's been more than a year since they've seen each other. OAO'']

Amaya set her large load on the counter, her ears twitching at the brown-haired boy's warm welcome. She studied his happy face, watching his expression shift to slight stone. He pointed a long finger directly at Amaya.
"You frown too much, Ami-san," he said flatly, retracting his finger.
She looked up at Rage, then back to the boy, then right back up at Rage. Whipping out a hand, she tugged on his sleeve. She was very confused. Not just confused, but a little disturbed.
How did he know her name?
And as if she wasn't confused enough, the boy answered that mental question with his smile returned. "Rukia used to talk about you all the time." His smile widened, like he was remembering a moment or two shared between Amaya's cousin and himself.
She tugged on Rage's sleeve again. This guy was just...weird. "Um...I think I'm gonna go wait outside," she muttered, lettin go of his sleeve. The boy at the counter was too happy, too knowledgable, and he knew her name. He was too kind, but he was kind of intrusive. She can frown all she wants.
Speaking of frowning, that's exactly what she did.
"Alright, Ami-san. See you around," Kazuki chimed, waving his uncaloused hand as he sensed the small girl leave. He stood up straight and stretched his hand out towards the basket she set down. It took him a while but he found it and pulled it close to him, a little surprised by how heavy it was.
"So, big guy, are you Ami-san's bodyguard?" he asked simply, a poor attempt in trying to make small-talk. He knew the guy couldn't talk, but he was talking out of habit and out of pure wish to attain any knowledge of Rukia's whereabouts. After all, the pretty girl was his best friend in childhood.
The couple just stared at each other, tempers flaring, hands gripping each other's faces.
"Hm... Maybe I should leave," Kakashi chuckled softly to himself. He didn't trust the two by themselves, but, it appears, they need to be alone for five minutes. Only five. If he left them alone any longer than that, who knows what can happen? But if he left, what would they do?
Burn the hospital to the ground?
He chuckled again and shook his head. No. They wouldn't do that. They're not that stupid.
Hit a nurse and hurt each other?
Now that was more tangible. They were a violent pair and they didn't exactly like nosy people. So, Kakashi thought, they would definitely hurt something.
He supposed it was better than the vast amounts of other things he was thinking of.
"Kiba." It was Yuki, her voice thin and strained. The poor kid was most likely about to go insane. He knew how much she missed the Inuzuka boy. The two were practically inseparable. And to think that he died only made her miss him more.
"Yuki." And Kiba was less than friendly in the way he said her name, his clawed thumbs running her cheekbones. He may have been being gentle but Kakashi didn't like how his voice came out.
The girl was his kid and he would be damned if any bastard talked her in a derogatory way. Mhmm. *snap snap*

[*laughing and crying in the fetal position on the floor* That's what I mean! Your choice of words just... It's all serious, then..."snap, snap" BAHAHAHA! XD]
Amaya thought SHE was confused? Her confusion only made Rage even more so. The teen had just said her name but Amaya's expression clearly stated that she had never seen him before. But the teen's aura was just so bright and passive... he didn't seem like a threat.
Rage watched Amaya excuse herself and scurry out of the store, peach eyes blinking. Surely she wasn't scared of such a person?
"So, big guy, are you Ami-san's bodyguard?" the brown haired teen asked as he began checking out Amaya's basket.
Just as Rage reached for his satchel for his pen and marker, his hand froze midway.
This guy was blind. He couldn't read. On top of that, he couldn't see any kind of expression on Rage's face... although, he'd known Amaya was frowning...
Rage had always thought that a deaf person was his best match for communication. He now realized that a blind person was his worst.
He sighed quietly and shook his head at the answer anyway, reaching into Amaya's tiny purse for her bill. He was going to seem so rude now.
"You stupid. Idiotic. Insensitive. Jerkish." Each word was punctuated with a kick to Vell's ribs. He caught the blond girl's foot after the fourth blow.
"Is EVERYONE trying to rupture my internal organs today?" he snapped.
Kugomi's face was contorted in stubborn anger, but tears were flowing down her cheeks and she sniffed. "More than a year! You've been gone from more than a year without even trying to get a hold of me - I thought you were dead! And here I find you waltzing around stuffing your face with junk food!"
Vell got to his feet, dropped Kugomi's ankle, and grabbed on of her earrings instead. She squealed. "You're not even supposed to be in this village," he accused.
"Neither are you," she shot back, face pugnacious. "Your big bro's here and you said you never wanted to see him again. But you're here!"
...
Kugomi's expression went from crying and wrathful to just crying in mere seconds. "I missed you so much!" she sobbed, suddenly embracing him tightly. "Baka! Baka baka baka baka!"
The silver haired teen looked down at her in exasperation as she cried into his chest. He wanted to say something snide about her tears, how she was being a big baby. But....
"..." Vell enclosed his arms around her just as fiercely, fingers running through her short, shaggy blond hair - but his eyes remained dry. "I missed you too, ya little brat."

[xD haha. *snap snap* I totally made Kakashi sound black. XD]
Amaya leaned up against the wooden pillar outside the grocery store, crossing her arms. The past twenty-four hours had been strange, so very strange and she had a feeling that they would only get stranger. She sighed lightly, storing out into the dark streets.
There were two things that bothered her. One: That guy's knowledge of her name and his cousin. Two: the fact he was blind and the fact Aosora had the audacity to force Yuki into killing someone. Not just someone. It was Yuki's brother.
She shook her head, watching as few normal people and ninja passed her by, some dipping their heads, others oblivious of her. A lot of these people seemed to be jounin and very few were gennin. She hmphed at their politeness, completely confused and unhappy as it is.
Kindness wasn't exactly a concept he wanted to be laid out before her and thrown in her face, simply because she didn't understand it. Why were people nice? Why weren't they? Why were they anything? She frowned. This is exactly why she hasn't advanced farther than gennin level.
Another question. How did that boy know her name? And her cousin?
Kazuki smiled. "Listen, big guy, I know you can't talk. Just tap once for no and twice for yes." He took in a smooth breath and scanned in all of Amaya's...candy and cookies and cakes. And spices. He smiled more. 'She did tell me that all Ami-san ate was sweets and spicy food.'
He chuckled an continued his job. "So, are you her friend or a bodyguard? 'Cos you're a pretty big guy."
The couple continued to sit there and stare for a while, completely blocking out Kakashi. They were lost in each other's eyes. Kiba broke into a toothy grin, Yuki upholding her frustrated expression. He leaned in and nipped her nose, chuckling as she sneezed.
Kakashi rolled his eyes and pushed away from the wall. As cute as they were, this was really awkward. He sighed and scratched his head. Too damn awkward. He worked his way to the door as quietly as he could.
"Uh...don't do anything," the jounin instructed, taking his leave.
And, to no one's surprise, they ignored him and indulged in their sweet moment, moods switching to calm and almost needy.
Kiba wrapped his arms around Yuki, careful to avoid her injuries an nestle his head into the crook of her neck. She smelled like lavender and blood, sweat and tears. Poor girl. He didn't like that she smelled like four different things. She was supposed to smell like lavender and, well, natural. He enjoyed her normal scent. Not this blood and sweat scent.
He crinkled his nose and stayed put, Yuki's clawed fingers taking a gentle hold on his jacket. That was how she hugged. It was a cute and innocent manner, one really only saying that she didn't know how to do this. He nuzzled her neck, sighing.
"What?" she asked quietly, pulling back to look at him.
"You stink."
She deadpanned and nearly decked him.
[Oh the romance. *bats my eyelages* Oh shuddap.]

[OwO Yun-chan and Kiba-kun are so cuuuuuuute. *squirms* Kakashi sounded like a black guy; ohhh that made my day. 'Cause I could see him going "Mmhmmmm. *snap, snap*". Totally Kakashi. XDDD]
Rage blinked in surprise. Was this person a shinobi? ... No, he didn't have much strength in him, although his chakra was activated... Such a confusing person.
He didn't have to think about the first question. Tap. Rage certainly wasn't Amaya's bodyguard. But the second inquiry stayed his hand from making his answer known. Friend? They couldn't be friends after such a small amount of time - not even a few hours, wasn't it? - but they weren't necessarily strangers, either. Rage realized that he was actually beginning to be fond of the small, sweets-loving, always-frowning girl.
After warring in his mind about the right answer, he opted for a third choice: Tap, tap, tap. "I don't know".
"So what the hell are you doing here, ookami gaki?" (wolf-brat)
Kugomi glared up at Vell as they walked down the road. Her eyes were still red and puffy but she no longer cried. "I could ask ya the same thing, baka neko," she pointed out.
He rolled his eye. "I asked first, so you answer first."
"Hmph." Kugomi folded her arms and squeezed her eyes into a characteristic squint. "If you've gotta know, I found a guy that lives here. He's...my twin."
Vell stopped and stared down at her. "Your WHAT?"
"Shaddap! I'm tellin' the truth-ttebaya!" she snapped irritably. "His name's Uzumaki Naruto an' he's a genin here in Konoha. I found out last month. I've been workin' up the courage to come back an' see him... That's when I picked up your sickly-sweet scent." Her nose twitched in irritation. "Smelly cat."
The silver haired teen's ear twitched and he growled under his breath. "Well, I was dragged here by those three stooges because they wanted me and Onii-san to make up."
Now it was Kugomi's turn to stop. "Ehh?!" she yelped.
"My thoughts exactly." Vell grew quiet for a minute and they kept walking. Then they arrived at the hospital. "He's in here. With his kid."
"EHH!?"
"Quit saying that; you'll look like you're mentally fucked-up," Vell grouched, smacking her spiky blond hair upside the head.
She rubbed her scalp, glaring at him moodily. "So. Are we going in there?"
"...Yeah." Vell tromped up the hospital steps, Kugomi taking two at a time to keep up with him.

[Kuro Kakashi! XD I'm dyin' here.]
Kazuki smiled in response to the three taps. "C'mon, you two seem a little more than strangers. You don't have to know someone completely or for very long in order to be friends," he stated simply, scanning one of Amaya's chocolate cakes. "You seem to like her anyways."
He continue to scan and scan and scan, now scanning Rage's meats. He thought about what he was saying decided that he may have been a bit too insightful. "I apologize. I mean no harm. I'm just a little empathic." On with the awkward scanning.
Truthfully, he didn't mean to make anyone uncomfortable. He was just able to understand feelings and feel them too. He supposed that maybe that's why he was blind. He sighed.
Yuki frowned at her coffee-skinned mate and tried her hardest not to punch him. He just told her she stank! Why would he do that? She frowned more deeply. "How the fuck do I stink?" she snapped, putting a lot of emphasis on the 'I'. Seriously. It's not like SHE was a dog.
"Would you shut up! Goddamn. You stink like blood and sweat and I don't like it! S'all I was saying," Kiba growled. He didn't like her jumpiness or her attitude. She didn't need to be like this. All she had to do was calm down. "Dammit, Yuki. Just calm down, okay? That isn't what's important."
She huffed and looked away from him. "Don't tell me I stink, asshole."
He sighed. "Look, even if you DO stink, I don't care. I just wish you didn't smell like wounds and tears and sweat and dirt. It bothers me...especially because it's YOU. You shouldn't ever have to smell that way.
She blushed and kept her eyes away from him, still a little offended. "Shut up, you stupid dog," she quipped, deciding to hug him as tightly as she could.
[Just...die romance! Bad awful romance!]

[Acting black with that bored face of his..."On ma hood. e_\ *z-snap*" It's total win. That's all it is. Bahahahaha XD]
Rage had never been so frustrated before in his life. This blind teen was not the cause; not at all. Not being able to clarify his own thoughts to another human being made him realize how truly handicapped he was without his voice. He'd never encountered such a giant gap between himself and someone else. It made him angry at himself for being mute.
Besides that, he was shocked at how urgently he wanted to rebuke the idea that Rage didn't like Amaya. He did. She was an honest person who he was sure would be a good friend to have. He just wasn't comfortable speaking on Amaya's behalf - she probably didn't have the same thoughts when it came to him.
He was fond of her. He wasn't so sure it was the other way around. She frowned too much and was too closed-up for him to be sure.
After the blind teen apologized for no reason Rage could understand, and a little while of awkward silence, the brown haired teen sighed randomly. Rage blinked at him, seeing the quiet dolor gathering like mist at the bottom of his dark-honey eye.
But Rage just looked back down at his groceries. Feeling frustrated again. Not being able to speak had never made him so angry at his own ineptness before. At least not to this degree.
Why did this matter so much if the person was a stranger, anyway? Rage dropped it like an impatient child dropped a toy he couldn't get to work for the life of him. He had to stop thinking about this.
Kugomi's first words since entering the hospital were said as she and Vell rounded the corner just before Yuki's room. And her face was screwed up in disgust as she said it:
"Smells like death and decay in here!"
"You're in a hospital, genius," Vell muttered. His black eye landed on the man leaning just outside the room door. He sighed. "She kick you out?"
Kakashi looked up from his deep concentration and smiled amicably, as was his nature. "I needed some fresh air, too."
"She? Is it your niece?" If Kugomi had wolf ears, they'd have perked in her interest. She scampered around Vell before he could stop her and opened the door to the room. Kugomi's eyes grew round at the couple her age hugging on the bed. "But she looks nothin' like the egg-suckin' neko," she almost complained.
[Tactful, tactful Kugomi. *pats her head*]

[Ah, black Kakashi-sensei. Oh my god that's extremely funny. XD]
Kazuki was frustrated with his disability. No sight. No sight means you can't see things. Being unable to see things meant being unable to create an accurate picture in his head. And THAT means his imagination sucks.
There was only one thing that could allow him to kind of see was that Wind Element crap he was brought up with. But that only let him see so much (shapes and shades) but all of it was blurry. Very, very blurry. He hated that. His father somehow sent a blade of air to his face and that absolutely ruined his right eye.
Bam. Already half blind.
He had half a mind to touch his scar, feeling a slight sting there. But he didn't. He frowned, looking in the direction of the big guy that was with Ami-san. This tall kid was why he felt so helpless and frustrated.
"Kid, please stop with the waves of frustration and disappointment in yourself. Screwin' up my happy vibe."
Yuki yelped and held Kiba tighter at the sudden high-pitched yell from the door. Kiba seemed to have known about the intruder but he only returned his mate's hug, chuckling softly in her ear.
He slowly let go of her and turned around, flinching a a slight pain worked its way up his leg. "Oi! You ruined our moment," he snapped, hopping up onto the bed. His leg was really bothering him.

Rage looked up at the brown haired teen in surprise, then quickly looked away. His unconscious way of saying sorry. Even though this teen couldn't possibly see that he was.
So this guy sensed emotions...? Really, is he a ninja or what?
He sighed heavily as if dispelling his frustration at his disability. He tried to think of other things instead so his...aura...wouldn't aggravate the cashier.
If Rage thought about it, this blind guy reminded him of Scythe. Not as tall, and lord knows much less calculating, but his amiable nature and easy grin were an awful lot like Rage's number one role model. He hooked onto the happy times he'd spent with Scythe as the blind teen finished checking the items.
/"WE FOUND ONE~!"/
Rage was literally thrown to the floor in panic at the exclamation coming from the communicator on his neck. The one he once again forgot he had. He dragged himself up using his elbow on the counter, a sweat drop on the back of his head, heart still thudding with alarm.
Scythe continued excitedly, /"Rage-kun, finish up your shopping quick - this place is really great! Awaji's taking a nap in one of the rooms now. One of them. There're three bedrooms in here! And the kitchen is HUGE. Everything's so spacious and comfortable. You've got to get home and try it. Now."/
"..." Rage rubbed his face as he finally calmed down, frowning at the communicator as if it were at fault.
/"Ah, wait, you're with Amaya-san, aren't you?"/ Scythe suddenly asked, remembering. /"Hahaha, I've never seen you take to a girl so fast."/ The slightest pink overcame Rage's face. /"Hope she wasn't there to hear that."/ An eyebrow twitch. /"Well, I'll let you get back to it. Come home soon, 'kay?"/
Rage blew a sigh and scrubbed his hand through his crew-cutted black hair. He pulled out his money, hoping the blind teen could tell that he was SO sorry for that really silly outburst and that he had not planned for that to happen.
[Oh, poor Rage. Scythe has such poor timing. XD]
Kugomi squinted at the feral-looking boy. "What does that even mean?" She yelped when a light fist bonked her in the back of her head.
Vell looked down at her with a frown. "It means you're a nuisance, ookami gaki."
"But how can she be yer niece if she don't look anythin' like ya?" Kugomi demanded. She'd expected a sour-looking girl with long silver hair and cute kitty ears sticking out from the tufts. But the bewildered, purple haired girl before her was nothing like that. Kugomi tilted her head at the girl. "ARE you the teme's niece?" Another smack to the head. "Quit it! D<"
"No. Now come on, they're having a 'moment'," Vell ordered, grabbing the shoulder of Kugomi's shirt and hauling her out.
